My own little example.

I wrote a poem a few days ago for my fiancee, thought I'd post it here. To take up some of this empty space. xD

Guardian Angel

Drowning and burning, caught between life and death
Wherever this ends, I know I won’t be afraid
Thinking about you makes me lose my breath
And I know that wherever I go, we are forever made

Made to be together through the thick and the thin
Made to stick together through brightest light and darkest sin
And how could I ever be torn from a love so true
No, nothing can take me away from you

The sun sets over another day’s end
My vision blurs over from constant sweat, blood, and tears
I shake as I lay, but I know you’ll take all my fears
As long as you stand by me, perhaps there’s a chance my life can mend

I’m not afraid to face whatever comes my way
I’ll see this through, this bleak but brightening day
Because I have you
And I wouldn’t want it any other way

I like the use of figurative language and rhyme in this one.

I agree, that's a great poem. For some reason the sweat, blood, and tears part reminds me of something, but I can't really remember what.
